A lot of submissions today. o3o
Some of you know by now that I love drawing bug people too much. I have at least ten half finished sketches of bug aliens on my harddrive, but I'm just so indecisive on a design that I can't bring myself to finish any of them!
THEN THE IDEA HIT ME. Since I can't decide on ONE species, what if I developed a story that revolved around MANY anthro bugs? Yeah, man. YEAH. So just imagine Thundercats or Avatar or something, except with BUGS.
Sun/Camel Spider: I actually caught one of these. Can't believe it's still alive. It's been well over a month. :/ Anyhow, Sun Spiders are downright ooglee. Like, way. God, why did you make these? Couldn't you have set their eyes farther apart? Anyway, I left off the eyes on my rendition because everything I tried either looked dumb or not Sun Spider-y enough. I love these guys BECAUSE they're so homely and universally detested. Gives them charm. ;]
Army Ant: I was just looking for a cool ant species on Google and came up with these hardcore critters. Battle damage seemed fitting.
Marbled Orb Weaver Spider: They got HUGE abdomens! How do they climb walls?! They're also some of the most beautiful animals you'll ever see. This is definitely my favorite sketch. It was fun to conceptualize an anthro spider face.
June Bug/Beetle: I asked by sister if she could name an arthropod that she liked and she said June Bug, even though she hates them in reality, lol. They're big, noisy, and incredibly clumsy. Sadly, I don't like this sketch as much as the others. :< Too devoid of expressiveness in the face. Back to the drawing board with this guy.
Devil's Flower Mantis: A WICKED cool mantis variation, and I didn't give it the justice it deserved. Mantises are one of my most favorite insects, so I'm gonna try again soon.
Gypsy Moth: Moths are beautiful. Kawaii, in fact. But they also lack face detail, sooo I went ahead and did whatever I wanted. I tried to make it attractive without it being overtly adorable, because I don't like drawing adorable things. I love that gypsy moths have little hairdos. C:
Anyway, I don't have anything solid yet. All I know is that I love bugs and I want to make a story revolving around them.

Of greatest interest to me was a sketch of a head similar to that of a devil mantis.
