Is it wrong if I think this is a good idea? I dunno. I think about stuff, and when I think about my version of the JLA this lady keeps popping up in Arthur's place. :/ (And so does a girl version of J'onn J'onzz, but that's another subject...)
I almost find her... manlier than Arthur. xD Like... she doesn't have to try as hard as him to look naturally cool and interesting? And it doesn't help that I feel like the current Aquaman comic writers are trying to overcompensate for all the abuse the character has suffered through (I'm probably wrong on that front - he deserves to be awesome, right?). But eh. What do I know? I gender-bent an American icon. Dx
So if I ever start a comic... don't be surprised to find a gender-bent Aquafish. Bring it on, angry nerds. >D No please don't. ;_;
I doubt this is the final design, knowing me, but at least she's out of my head now! Screw dolphins. Let's get some sea serpents up in this b, and water that kind of surges out from nowhere down a hallway toward her enemiiiiieeeessss. Her skin is lightly patterned and glossy, like an amphibian or a fish. I'm still playing with markings though.
And... that's all I got so far. 8X So, uh... what do you guys think? In general? Like the haircut, suit design, ideas of your own, etc? Do you think this would be interesting, or does it need a lot more work? Thank you for viewing, guys. Love! <3
Except I don't want to change the build. I'm leaving the curvaceousness with Wonder Woman. Haha.
You are not wrong. Geoff Johns IS overcompensating. Instead of just making Aquaman awesome and heroic, they have to say that he's a laughing stock and a butt of jokes, thereby weakening him. It only prompts the reader to wonder why Aquaman is considered a joke, and to perhaps agree with the sentiment. Johns is supposed to be writing for new readers, but instead he is writing for the decades-old fan who may have a bias against the character (which I don't share nor understand). Mera in the comic is awesome (especially with her water power). Why isn't Aquaman?
I always liked the idea of Aquaman more than the application. But this way, being awkward - and a girl - definitely makes for a more interesting angle. Not to mention that it also redresses the balance a little bit so the team isn't all guys with the odd token female.
Yeeeaaah, I think that was what was bothering me subconsciously, not that I'm necessarily angry about the lack of ladies (don't have a 'minority rights' bone in my body), but I think it'd warrant more storytelling ideas if there were more females among the main cast. No matter what anyone says, guys and girls will always have different wiring. Gender creates conflict, both positive and negative. There are more emotional avenues to explore when there's more than one chick around. I think that's what I'm shooting for. :]

Thanks so much for the great comment.
