Commish - Saosire

An uninked photoshoot commission for the eternally marvelous ashenbach, picturing his daughter's tabletop RPG character, Saosire (pronounced seer-sha). Saosire hails from a gargoylian race that have taken up the responsibility of guarding places and people deemed hallowed by God. Why, of course she's a gargoyle! How can anyone mistake those clever Disney's Gargoyles cape wings? P:

Rant: Gargoyles. I love gargoyles. Why? Because relationships between holy and grotesque things fascinate me. Some think that gargoyles are meant to be reminders of the horrors of Hell and the threat of demons, while others think that gargoyles serve the same function as jack-o-lanterns and scare evil spirits away with their fearful presence. For me, I think the truth of their meaning is more elusive. Maybe it's a yin and yang correlation. Maybe they serve as contrast to help bring out the beauty of the building. Maybe it's the architectural embodiment of "shadow cannot exist without light". With all that said, I believe the concept of framing holy/beautiful things with grotesqueries is a train of logic that is inherently medieval. Modern Western culture has difficulties understanding and may never fully be able to comprehend such a notion. Whatever it is, I and other weird Christians have a lot of passion for the subject.
