I noticed that I used the dreaded "belt that serves no function" design. UGH. Although I guess it's more of a symbol than a belt. Actually, I think I used a lot of my pet peeves in this drawing. Maybe I should just have him run around in jeans, a t-shirt and a cape. ;D
The face is really bad-looking, I understand. I dunno what happened, I just couldn't fix it.
Okay, so why did I do this? Aaah, it's for roleplaying. I wanted to do something a little different because, well, my RP version of him strays from canon a little when it comes down to personality. He's flawed and more grounded in reality, mostly due to the setting lacking a lot of the whimsical elements the comics have. Believe me, I tried to get Clark to wear his original costume, but he just won't do it. He thinks it's silly looking. Dx WELL I THINK HE'S SILLY LOOKING ANYWAY. AND STUPID. Whatever. So to make him happy I drew this.
It's not that I don't get the guy -- it's just that RPing has always been more demanding of weaknesses and mistakes so they may be exploited in various encounters, and not to mention character development is really important. You simply cannot play a perfect person in a roleplay, and being the vice-aholic that I am, I definitely brought him down to earth this time around, hence the not-so-vibrant outfit here that a grittier world would be more accepting of.
^Absolutely amazing picture btw.
This is where I got the black pants idea. I dunno! I think it's a rather simple and unfussy design that I think could probably work. I'm obviously talking more about Matthew's design than mine, but yeah. xD Because I tried to balance the black out and I think I epic failed at it. And those gosh dang boots don't look like they work with the rest of the costume.
I'll just quote a comment I made: "On the contrary, I approve of how altruistic he is in the comics. With all that he symbolizes, it's honorable to read about his feats, how much he's fought for, and how much he's sacrificed in order to help his fellow man. If a day came where he lost his goodness, well, that's not the Superman I fell in love with. I'm not a fan of assigning more flaws (he actually already has a few) - it's just that in an RP environment where you have to play on the same level as everyone else and that character development is important, I chose the easy way out. Superman has an essence that is tricky to capture. I find the guy more complicated than his flawed counterparts, to be honest. xD"
There ya have it. I suck, and canon Superman is awesome. NEVER ENDING FUN YAY.
This is really awesome! ^^ Love this redesign of Supes, and I just wanted to pop out and say that I hope you don't mind that I copied the pose a little >u< [link]
I must say though, I'm LOVING this suit just as much. Seriously AWESOME design.....AWESOME indeed.
