Wonder Woman Concept 2 by Harseik Wonder Woman Concept 2 by Harseik
Craaaaap, she looks like a cowgirl. A handkerchief around her neck and everything. That's not right. 8I

EDIT: It's not really a bandanna, I swear. S'just a toga thing.

This is what I'll probably be using for the Trinity + Hal comic, but no one should be surprised if it gets tweaked later. I don't want to take credit for the skirt idea, so here's where it came from: [link] I wish I knew who drew it. It was just sitting in my superhero folder for the longest time. [Edit: Found out the artist. Frank Quitely. Eeyaaay!] I think making the skirt look like a legit American flag was brilliant, plus, it's way easier to draw than the leather skirt. As for the tiara, I was sort of going for a laurel look, and I thought sandals were kinda cool so I cut off half her shoe at the last second. Don't look at the toes. They suck. I'm still practicing feets. .__.

I wasn't really trying to overplay her warrior vibe - she came out pretty fierce on her own. I think I'mma roll with it then. ;P Oh, as usual I'm open to criticism regarding the design, the anatomy, the scary bicep, anything that bothers you!

*Is jelly of her radiant tan.*

Spoiler: Invisible plane's back, babeh. :3

First let me say I saw your final design, loved it. But I love this even more. And I know people have an opinion about her not having a tiara, I say she's doesn't NEED a tiara. I've seen a LOT of concept designs, but this one is top notch from the theme to the expression.

Allow me to rant for a minute when I say I am frustrated with DC and how they've done Diana over the years. They hit with Superman, they hit with Batman, but they continue to miss with her ESPECIALLY when it comes to costume design. She's a freakin AMAZON, and you have captured that with this concept. Hats off too you, and it's going in my favs.

Maybe if the handkerchief were longer and made out to be some kind of cape, she'd look like a supermegafoxyawesomehot Greek superheroine or something. Despite that, this is REALLY fierce! Don't mess with her, yeah?

It's not really a handkerchief, I just thought it looked like one. xD I would give her a cape except... half the JLA has one, so she won't stand out well enough. It would look really rad though. Thank you for commenting!

And honestly, I think the cowgirl vibe kinda works with her. I mean, her main weapon is a lasso, after all. :)

I love her toenails. They're so unfemme in a good way. Wonder Woman should be a little butch, and this one looks like she's about to beat some faces in, so +1 for that.

I agree with Warlocked's comment that maybe a pauldron on her right shoulder would help even it out composition-wise since it looks a little unbalanced with the toga wrapping only one shoulder.

Like the muscular build. Not a bodybuilder's muscles that are made huge and bulky and unwieldy, but a warrior or soldier's body. Fit, compact, agile but will still beat your ass if she has to. Awesome.

I like the sandals (the toes look fine btw), the gauntlets and the laurel/tiara. Not so hot on the colors (being a fan of the gold opposed to the silver) but you definitely make it work.

Love the nice tan she's got! Very evocative of a warrior who has trained for hours in the sun and also adds a little exotic element to her look (she is a Greek Amazon after all)

I'm going to contradict myself here and say while I love her long, untamed hair that really adds to the wild, fierce look, it might be a bit too long and get in the way. Then again, Batman manages to avoid tripping over his cape so why not? They're superheroes. They specialize in that sort of thing :)

All in all, a great piece. Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

I'll have to see about the balancing thing, because a pauldron might clutter her already busy design, but I think I'll give it a go in some sketches, or perhaps thin out the cloth. Hmmm. I always thought silver was more reminiscent of American flag, but I understand the issues of venturing away from the traditional WW we know and love.

HRRMMM, a messy bun might look cool, to keep that crazy mane out of her eyes while she's in combat. Thanks for the ideas! :]

Wow, I really love this concept, and the colouring style- the same one you used with supes, right? I could definitely see this on her on the island, but wouldn't the space where the cloth is between her two toes get blisters? While fighting or something? I mean it works if it's a super-magical unbreakable, anti-blistering cloth which would TOTALLY make sense, given her background. Also, are you planning to stick with the dark eyes? I mean, since Wonder Woman traditionally has blue eyes... Sorry, not trying to trash on your cool pic here, just she looks somewhat.. Native american-ish, I guess. I don't know, it's a new-ish look but it definitely looks good. I love the tendril-ey hair by the way :) Anyway, the actual design and concept and drawing in itself is great, I would love to see this in a comic.

I never thought of the strap giving the wearer blisters. This is what get for not wearing sandals myself. I don't know how they work. Haha. Aaaactually, it might be okay, since I have this idea floating around in my head where her skin has rock-like consistency, alluding to her clay origins (this sorta gave me the idea [link]). Still tossing the concept around though. :/

Aaaah, haha, oops. In the image's original resolution she has strong dark blue eyes, like a deep sea color. Looks like they turned black upon resizing. Dangit. xD

Thank you so much for the input.

Ooooh, NOW I see the blue-ish-ness. Yeeeeesss, although maybe the blueness would stand out more if you made it a shade lighter? maybe leaning towards a blue-y-greenish? Of course, though, if the picture was bigger i'm sure it would be more visible. No problem as always!

I really like this second concept. 8D

The tiara actually came off as war paint for a moment which is also cool. The hankerchief around her neck does make me think of a cowboy but for some reason I feel like that fits. You know, us Americans got cowboys. ;D Her skirt is also and I wish we knew who thought of it first. D: Her stance is fierce and gives off that powerful atmosphere that says "Don't miss with me; I'm a warrior princess like XENA"

well... you can kindda see where you might be coming from... She is an Amazon right? So maybe looking a bit at Ancient Greek fashions will help? That seems to be where you are trying to go with this.

Well. I don't like the handkerchief. The silver parts should be gold. The tiara is too small and the shorts are just...meh. But it's only my opinion.

Oh, it's not supposed to be a handkerchief. More like a toga or sash. I just thought it looked like a handkerchief, haha. The silver was done so she'd resemble the American flag more and borrow less from a certain other JLAer's color scheme. The shorts... sorry. Wasn't the look I was going for. But I do agree that the tiara is too small and plain-looking. Thanks a bunch for the feedback.

The feet are fine. I actually think you made her look like a woman who doesn't wear enclosed shoes very often, which is brilliant. I love the open toed shoes and how you did her glove-arm-thingies. I like the idea behind the tiara-laurel look, but I agree with another person who says it looks a bit small.

There are two kinds of looks that "fit" Wonder Woman to me, fierce and regal. This is a great fierce look for her. :D

Very nicely done over all!

Trust me, your toes are fine. I've seen some freaky ass excuses for toes in my day. They aren't pretty.

Love the open-toed boots, and the armor is nice n' sleek.

What I love the most is that she actually LOOKS greek!
The, um...toga shoulder is cool, and with the whole covering the left breast is actually a cool throw-back to how in myth Amazonians would cut off their left breasts in order to make drawing the bow easier and more accurate.

A personal peeve is that she lost a lot of her fun eagle motifs and stars. That, and the Laurel-Tiara thingie is a bit too small.

That'd actually be a cool chance to add a eagle-motif, by widening the Laurel and adding metal feathers, which in turn also looks like Laurel leaves.

HRRRMMMM, I really like the feathered tiara idea. I think I'll carve that on her next time. There is an eagle on her breastplate but it's covered by the sash. Darn that thing. Maybe I'll thin it out.

Oh yeah, I was definitely inspired by Greek togas. And now I'm glad I remembered which side to drape it over. xP

Thanks a million for the rad idea.
