Congruency in music can happen very easily when you're dealing with overwhelmingly popular themes like "fire", "gamers rise up", and "together we are stronk" in your story. Additionally, anything that mentions deserts, storms, light in the dark, trials, scars, burning, armor, memories, warriors/war, Christian iconography, and struggling against adversity, I'm all like:

"The radio people are speaking to me."

There's an extinct doo-wop band called "The Firesiders". That's so magical. I bookended the playlist with two of their pieces and I would argue the 144p quality is an aesthetic.

Collected for posterity's sake, the following is my "So Relevant that I Suspect Psychic Copyright Infringement" music list.

YouTube playlist for easy listening.

"No One Cares For Me" by the Firesiders

"Trials(reimagine)" by STARSET <- INSANELY accurate. I'mma sue you, Starset.

"Trials" by STARSET <- Original mix.

"Journey (Ready to Fly)" by Natasha Blume <- Gonna sue this lady too.

"Born for This" by the Score <- Hmmmmmm.

"Would You Come Home" by Tyler Blackburn

"Into the Fire" by Lloren and Christian Reindl

"Burn" by Nathan Wagner

"Ashes" by Ross Lara

"Things We Lost in the Fire" by Bastille

"Start a Revolution" by IMAscore

"I Am Dust" by Gary Numan

"Fire" by the Score

"Victorious" by Skillet

"Man of Stone" by Nathan Wagner

"No Sound but the Wind" by Editors

"Born to Die" by Euphoria

"(I'll Remember) One and All" by the Firesiders

Metalcore Boulevard:

"God of Fire" by Fit for a King

"Bear These Scars" by Those Who Fear

"In Between" by Beartooth

"Scars" by I Prevail

"Engraved" by Fit for a King

You are absolutely encouraged to share music from your own stories and/or themes for your original characters in the comments. I'll listen and respond to all of it, because talking to you about your own stories and what inspires them will always be my favorite thing. C:

Commissions are officially open! Head over to my submission dedicated to the subject. A few changes to consider are efforts to make my business more centralized around a my website, a new email address (DHendersonArt@outlookcom), new prices, and heck - even a new render style.

I have several people here on dA who have tried to contact me during my hiatus, as well as clients with reservations they've been hanging onto for almost a year. In most cases it's been forever and a half, so if there's a chance that any of those individuals are still interested in doing business, I warmly invite you to reestablish contact.

Definitely mulling over a discount to celebrate the reopening - stay tuned in!

I'd like to keep the personal update short and sweet because let's face it - stuff's boring, but let's jump into it.

For the past year I was working at a movie theater in Odessa, Texas. I had a great experience there, but due to the city-wide over surplus of jobs that aren't related to oil, I was working full time at a part time job. Dude, this was awesome for employees who needed the hours, but freelancing became unfeasible when faced with such long hours and an ever-changing schedule. Never mind finished art pieces - it was hard to even make a daily doodle. This is also why I haven't been on social media in general. Simply no time or energy.

My time at the theater came into question when my beloved uncle went to meet the Lord in December. Volunteering as a caregiver, I was allowed to board with my aunt and uncle at their senior/assisted living apartment complex, but once I was unable to be a caregiver, I was no longer qualified to stay and had six months to leave, and in overcrowded oil cities like Midland and Odessa, I barely had a chance of affording a hole in the ground, let alone an apartment.

And so, my stint in Texas was incredible, albeit short-lived. I'm back in Arizona, with a reinvigorated desire to set my skills in motion and really invest in my career. Perhaps you have noticed the increased prices? For the first time I will actually be freelancing for minimum wage, which is a step in the right direction toward taking my craft with the sincerity and thoughtfulness that a personal business requires. A fairly compensated Hark is a peaceful Hark who doesn't have to worry about her car payment, so I hope the changes are understandable.

I would love to catch up some more with you cool guys and gals gracious enough to read this far, but time waits for no bird, and I must continue my nest building. Thank you for your audience, as well as your custom. Until next time!

Things have certainly changed since last we talked, ladies and gentlemen. I have left Presidio and gave chase to the oil rush in Midland, TX. Mind you, I'm not swol enough to take up an oil field job, but because of the mass migration of workers into the area, which has temporarily increased the population, the city is hurting for employees in virtually every level of business imaginable. You can't go 20 feet without seeing the words "now hiring" printed on a window or billboard somewhere. As you can imagine, this was the perfect opportunity to snag a part-time gig. Cinergy Cinemas has accepted my application as a concessions team member (always wanted to work in a theater, eeeee!); I've been working for them for about two weeks now. Now this Cinergy thing... it's much more than just your average theater. It is an amalgamation of all things entertainment. Motion rides, bowling, billiards, laser tag, arcades, obstacle courses, and even a bar. It doubles as a dine-in restaurant, where you can have food served to you during your movie. This place has kinda gone all out and I am quite pleased to help run such an extraordinary establishment.

My plan for years has been to do something like this: score a part-time job meant to help make ends meet and keep me grounded while I focus on artwork. And so, I have one part of my plan in motion! All I need to do is work out a consistent schedule, because I ain't a spring chicken anymore, and moving my sleep schedule around in order to keep up with ever-changing shift is incredibly exhausting, to put it bluntly. But, once I am able to request a stable shift, I'll have the time and stamina to start working on commissions, as well as that webcomic I so desperately need to create.

Long story short - I moved again, I got a job, and I'm settling in as fast as I can so art can be a part of my daily life again. I'll be back to my usual antics once things have settled down. I have been drawing on the daily all things considered. Granted, they are mostly sketches, but I'd be happy to share them with you guys if you're interested. Once I've spruced them up, I'll get to posting.

I'm sure he's going to see Christopher Robin. :]

Thank you for checking in on me. I hope I can catch up with everybody soon!

Success! I made it to Texas, now residing in a small town located on the border called "Presidio".

It is just a darling little place, and the weather is actually milder here than Yuma (THANK THE LORD). And when I say "small town", I mean so small that the next Starbucks is about a hundred miles away. This is cattle country, my dudes. But... man oh man, am I loving the scenery and the locals. Monumental mountains, wheat-colored plains, and cowboys - it's a perfect mixture of majestic desert and rustic Midwestern charm. Smashing towns like Marfa and Alpine are a short roadtrip away as well, so at least I can stretch my legs. I've only been here a week and I can't get enough of this state.

I promise that not everything here looks like this, but I just had to share. I can only assume that a desert druid lives in this enchanted shack. Is this not AMAZING?

Allow me to address my business clients for a moment. Although I've moved into town, I'm currently living in temporary housing with no Internet for about a month. I plan to continue offering my services during this time, but it will be a wee bit inconvenient, as I only have roaming phone service and the library as my access to social media. In other words, things will be slow, but the work will be moving along. I will start reestablishing contact with my clients tomorrow.

PS: In case there's any interest, I'm almost done with the outline for "Firesiders", my upcoming webcomic, which will be split into three story arcs. Thanks to strong muse generated by the change of scenery, you can expect the story to be written as a Modern Supernatural Western - just the identity this project needed! I won't put a deadline on when the pages will start flowing, but I will say that it's coming sooner rather than later, and to generate interest I'll be submitting updates like concept art and documentation via all of my social media. My end goal is to get a web domain, but I'll start cobbling that together when I'm ready to draft pages.

Talk to y'all later!
